Ice-Out Dates

http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2005/3002/pdf/fs2005-3002.pdf

This article is not related to the film itself, but it's an eye-opening find.   Notice the abrupt drop on the ice-out graphs starting around 1970....pretty significant information, especially for southern Maine..

Sebago Derby, 2010

The 2010 Sebago Lake Ice Fishing Derby was cut short due to poor ice conditions - more than a dozen vehicles went through the lake.  Here are some photos, courtesy of Matt Boutet (check out his work at www.mattboutet.com)

What is Hardwater?

Hardwater will be a feature-length, Maine-made documentary film, chronicling a vibrant and oft-misunderstood sub-culture. Created by filmmaker Daniel Sites and Registered Maine Fishing Guide Ryan Brod, Hardwater investigates the passion and drive of the men and women who congregate on the ice each winter - why do they do it? Who are these people? Filmed in nearly 10 counties across the state over a three year period, Hardwater is set to the stunning backdrop of Maine in winter.

We will have our rough cut finished by mid-September of 2011!
